China border province reports 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Of the 22 new cases, 14 were imported cases and eight were domestically transmitted ones.

HARBIN, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia, reported 22 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday, local health authority said Wednesday.

Of them, 14 were imported cases and eight were domestically transmitted ones, said the provincial health commission of Heilongjiang.

Of the 14 imported cases, 12 were Chinese nationals returning from Russia, and the other two were Chinese nationals returning from Italy and Japan respectively.

Of the eight domestically transmitted cases, two were previously asymptomatic cases.

By Tuesday, Heilongjiang had reported a total of 340 confirmed imported COVID-19 cases and one had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

On Tuesday, the province reported one new imported asymptomatic case, bringing the total existing number of such cases to 52, according to the commission.
