MOSCOW, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Russia is ready to develop relations not only with the European Union (EU) as a whole, but with any EU country on a bilateral basis, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday.

In a live interview with reporters of 20 federal TV channels, Medvedev estimated that the EU has lost between 100 and 200 billion euros (110.95 and 221.89 billion U.S. dollars) after it imposed economic sanctions on Russia in 2014.

"This money simply can't be returned, and it means jobs, the earnings of the businesses and the earnings of your working people," Medvedev said, adding that trade with the EU fell by around 250 billion dollars from 417 billion dollars.

Medvedev said that he hoped the trade wars would end, and all sorts of restrictions will be lifted.

He added that the newly elected team of the European Commission had a chance to normalize bilateral relations.
